L. Obura Aloo
L. Obura Aloo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He has a mixed practitioner,
corporate and academic background having worked in diverse institutions including law
firms, government parastatals, private companies and academic institutions. He is currently
in a private legal practice with the firm of Mwaura & Wachira Advocates Nairobi
specialising in commercial and trade law. And, he is also a law lecturer in the Department of
Private Law at the University of Nairobi, Nairobi teaching, amongst other subjects,
alternative dispute resolution and international trade law. He has supported various student
legal aid programmes.
His previous assignments included working as head of commercial legal services in the then
largest local telecommunications company during the liberalisation and privatisation of the
communications industry in Kenya. He served on the regional task forces and consulted for
the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Kenya amongst other
organisations. He holds two Master of Laws Degrees- one in Commercial Law from the
University of Cape Town (1999) and another in IT and Telecommunications Law from the
University of Strathclyde (2007). He holds an Undergraduate Law Degree from the
University of Nairobi (1995).
