About us
Global Alliance for Legal Aid
The Global Alliance for Legal Aid (GALA) is a non profit organization that supports access to justice and engages in public interest advocacy primarily in developing countries.
Legal aid is an essential component of access to justice yet the vast majority of the population in many countries cannot afford legal services or even court filing fees.
GALA engages in public interest advocacy and coordinates pro bono legal support for human rights and advocacy organizations on a variety of issues; including debt relief for the over indebted, advocacy for victims of financial fraud, environmental justice and prison reform, as well as access to legal aid for incarcerated individuals.

You can get involved with GALA by buying Fair Trade products from countries where GALA has ongoing public interest advocacy actions. At present, we sell delicious fair trade coffee from Mbale, Uganda (imported/roasted by Thanksgiving Coffee. GALA is not currently accepting new legal cases, but if you have an issue with which you need assistance, feel free to write and we will try to connect you with pro bono legal assistance through our network.
